Hey, I'm Phoebe...
My pronouns are she/they, and I'm a freelance photographer working in Muloobinba (Newcastle, NSW).
I grew up in the Hunter Valley, NSW and my home was 120 acres of bush land, meaning I had endless space for imagination and creativity, and was exposed to the magic of nature throughout my childhood. However, I discovered my love for photographic journalism while freelancing action photography for the Australian Defence Force, Kapooka Base.
It's taken me over 10 years to develop my style, but I keep coming back to documentary storytelling, movement, and dark elements of artists like Bill Henson. I would describe my photography as Australian gothic, ethereal, and romantic with a cinematic touch.
I shoot everything from live gigs and events to styled portraiture and my own travel. I've worked gigs for The University of Newcastle, Queer and Now, Newcastle Pride, Valkyrie Gym, Newcastle Theatre Company, Very Popular Theatre Co., Walkcom Construction, and many more.
I love the rawness of film photography, but enjoying manipulating digital photos in post-production. I am currently using a Sony A7III, a rinkydink digital Canon from my childhood (for those Y2K vibes), and a film Canon DS500.
I love collaborating with my clients and other creatives, so flick me a message and let's see what magic we can create together!
I love capturing moments that normally go unseen, and ensuring each photoshoot has a personal touch.
